The RRB ALP Memory Test is Test 1 of the CBAT, the psycho test after CBT 2. In the hall it is one of six kinds: House Position Test (1a), Figure to Number Test (1b), Railway Track Route Test (1c), Figure to Figure Test (1d), Figure Find Test (1e) or Vehicle & Signal Position Test (1f), the kind new in the railway's mock for CEN 01/2025. Each kind has two parts, each with a study stage and then a test stage. Kinds 1a, 1c and 1e give 24 questions in 8 minutes; 1b and 1d give 42 or 40 in 12 minutes; 1f gives 24 in 10 minutes on this portal, as 12 + 12 (6 in 4 minutes, as 3 + 3, in the railway's mock). The test measures how much you can hold in mind for a short while.
The study screen shows a map, picture-number pairs, pairs of shapes or sets of shapes under a Time Left clock. At zero it disappears and the questions open on a fresh screen. Each question offers four or five options; you click one and press Save & Next. This page gives the shared flow, a study method, the costly mistakes, a 7-day plan and common questions. The hall gives one kind for Test 1, with that kind's own count and clock (RDSO guideline, ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020). Kind 1f is set like 1a on this portal, 12 questions a part with half a minute more to study and to answer; the railway's mock test for CEN 01/2025 gave it 3 questions a part, 1 minute to study and 1 minute to answer, and says the hall's will vary. T-Score 42 or more is needed in this test, as in every test.

Instruction screen
Each kind opens with its rules in Hindi and English and a worked example. This screen tells you which kind you have. On the portal it allows 5 minutes and can be skipped.

Study screen, Part 1
The material appears under its own Time Left clock. You get 2 minutes in House Position, Railway Track Route and Figure Find, 3 minutes in Figure to Number and Figure to Figure, and 2.5 minutes in Vehicle & Signal Position. Nothing can be written. At zero the screen closes and does not come back.

Test screen, Part 1
A fresh clock of the same length starts. Part 1 has 12 questions in the four 24-question kinds, 21 in Figure to Number and 20 in Figure to Figure. Map kinds ask the letter now shown at each house's, station's, vehicle's or signal's place. Figure to Number gives four options and Figure Find gives five sets to choose from. Click one; the click is kept at once, and the part closes on its clock or on Submit.

Part 2
A short break with a summary follows. Then Part 2 opens by itself: a second study screen under a fresh clock of the same length, then its own 12, 21 or 20 questions. In Vehicle & Signal Position, Part 2 is a railway map with rail signals after Part 1's street map with vehicles.

Submit and T-Score
Press Submit, or the clock submits for you at zero. On the portal your T-Score appears at once, with a review of every question and its answer. In a Full Mock a break with a summary follows, then Test 2.

Fix a reading order before you look
Decide the route your eyes will take before the screen opens. On a map go left to right and top to bottom; with pairs or sets, go one after another. Keep it on every pass; a fixed order makes each item's place part of the memory.

Name each item, then link it
Say every item under your breath as you reach it. Name each house by what stands near it, and each picture with its number. For pairs, add a link between the halves, a picture or a short story. A bare pair falls out of memory first.

Go round more than once
Walk every item once in order; walk it again adding each name or link; then return only to what slipped. Let the last round run until Time Left reaches zero.

Strike, then pick
Recall the item's name or link before you look at the options. Strike those you never saw or that break the link. Click the one left, press Save & Next and let it go. At 12.5 seconds or less a question, there is no room for a second look.
7 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Know your pace
You get 10 seconds a question in House Position, Railway Track Route and Figure Find, and 12.5 in Vehicle & Signal Position. Figure to Figure gives 9, Figure to Number under 9. Hold that pace from question 1; a slow start cannot be made up later in the part.
2.Tie every place to a landmark
In the map kinds the letters sit where the houses, stations, vehicles or signals stood. Fix each place by its neighbours on the map. Note the house beside another house, or the station before and after it on the track. Hold the route, not a list of separate points.
3.Give every pair a reason
In Figure to Number, read the number as one word with the picture and repeat the pair both ways. In Figure to Figure, see the two shapes as one object. The question asks for the exact partner, so a vague memory is not enough.
4.Keep the order inside a set
In Figure Find you must pick the set you studied from five options. Give each set a code word, one letter a shape, in the order the shapes stand. Check every option against the code before you click.
5.Treat Part 2 as a new paper
Part 2 has its own study screen and questions. Do not lean on what you remember from Part 1. Study the second screen from nothing, in the same fixed order.
6.Review where you lose items
The portal's review shows every question with its answer. After each paper, note where the lost items sat: far side of the map, last pairs, middle of a set. Give that spot an extra round of study next time.
7.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Taking in the study screen as one picture instead of reading it in a fixed order, then failing the place questions.
- Memorising the pictures of the Figure to Number Test but not their numbers, which every question asks for.
- Feeling ready after one pass and letting the rest of the study clock run unused.
- Leaning on Part 1 in Part 2 instead of studying the second screen from nothing.
- Preparing only the Figure Find Test because the last exam gave it, and meeting a map kind unprepared.

No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
