The Power of Observation Test is Test 4 of the RRB ALP CBAT, the psycho test after CBT 2. The hall gives one of four kinds: Yes or No Test, Find 6 Test, Find 9 Test or Figure Placement Test. Yes or No gives 96 questions in 4 minutes. Find 6 and Find 9 give 75 in 4 minutes each. Figure Placement gives 60 in 7 minutes. The test measures how quickly and how accurately you notice a small difference on a screen. The pattern follows the RDSO guideline (ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020).
On screen the question is always small: two numbers side by side, four groups of digits, or two sets of figures. You look, decide and click Y or N, or a letter. The rows come in parts; Save & Next opens the next part while the Time Left clock runs. There is no study part and no break inside the test. The pace is the whole difficulty. The hall gives one kind for Test 4, with that kind's own count and clock (RDSO guideline, ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020). T-Score 42 or more is needed in this test, as in every test.

The 4 kinds of question in the Power of Observation Testसवालों के प्रकार
Test 4 comes as one kind only: Yes or No (4a), Find 6 (4b), Find 9 (4c) or Figure Placement (4d). In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave Figure Placement, as the institute's records show: give it the most papers. The railway's mock link for CEN 01/2025 gives Figure Placement again.

Instruction screen
It opens with Hindi and English instructions and an example of the kind the hall has chosen. Read the example once and say the rule in one line. On the portal this screen allows 5 minutes and can be skipped.

One clock for the whole test
One Time Left clock runs for the whole test. Yes or No, Find 6 and Find 9 get 4 minutes; Figure Placement gets 7. There is no clock per question and no study part.

What each kind shows
Yes or No shows two numbers side by side with Y and N to mark. Find 6 and Find 9 show four groups of digits, A to D, and the option E. Figure Placement shows set A against set B and asks for no difference, or two, three or four figures moved.

Click, then Save & Next
Click Y or N, or a letter, on every row of the part. Yes or No shows 24 pairs a part; Find 6 and Find 9 show 25 rows. Save & Next opens the next part, and Figure Placement moves in parts the same way. At zero the clock submits for you.

Break, summary and T-Score
In a Full Mock a short break with a summary follows, then Test 5. In a practice paper your T-Score appears on submit, with a review of every question and its correct answer. A doubtful question can be reported to the institute.

Fix the rule of your kind first
Yes or No: the same, Y; any difference, N. Find 6 and Find 9: the letter of the one group holding the digit; more than one, E. Figure Placement: how many figures of set B have moved against set A; none, two, three or four. Say it once on the instruction screen.

Sweep in one fixed order
Yes or No: read both numbers from the left in chunks of three. Find 6 and Find 9: sweep A, B, C, D in order, hunting the digit's shape, not its value. Figure Placement: check set B against set A one place at a time. One order every time, so nothing is skipped or seen twice.

Finish the sweep, then decide
Every kind punishes a half look. A 6 in group A is not the answer until B, C and D are clear. A pair that matches in its first chunk can still differ in its last digit. A set that looks unchanged earns 'no difference' only after a full walk.

Click and leave it
Click, press Save & Next and start the next sweep. Do not go back; a first careful read beats a hurried second one. Give the last question the same care as the first.
5 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Know your seconds
Yes or No is 96 pairs in 4 minutes: two and a half seconds a pair. Find 6 and Find 9 are 75 in 4 minutes: just over 3 seconds each. Figure Placement is 60 in 7 minutes: 7 seconds each. Practise until that pace feels normal.
2.The difference waits at the end
In every kind the slip sits where the eye has already left. Yes or No hides a changed last digit. The Find tests hide the 6 or 9 near the end of a group. Figure Placement puts the moved figure at the far end of set B. Finish the row before you decide.
3.Hunt the loop
A 6 has its loop below and a tail rising; a 9 has its loop above and a tail falling. Let your eye search for where the loop sits. Under the clock a 9 passes for a 6 and an 8 for either.
4.Four letters, four counts
In Figure Placement your count becomes a letter: none is A, two B, three C, four D. One is not on the list, so a count of one sends you back over the set. At four, click D; nothing more can change.
5.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Marking the first group with a 6 or 9 and missing the second group that makes it E.
- Clicking Y after the first digits match, and missing a difference near the end.
- Guessing B in Figure Placement from a single mismatch, when the rule says a second one must exist.
- Re-reading a question for safety and losing two easier questions behind it.
- Slowing down after one slip, when the Time Left clock does not.
- Preparing only Figure Placement because the last exam gave it, then meeting a Find test.

▸Is the Power of Observation Test in Hindi?
Yes. The instruction screen and the example come in Hindi and English together. The questions themselves are digits and figures, so there is nothing to read in either language.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
