Figure to Figure Test आकृति-आकृति परीक्षण
The Figure to Figure Test is kind 1d of the Memory Test, Test 1 of the RRB ALP CBAT. In the hall it gives 40 questions in 12 minutes, as two parts of 20. Each part allows 3 minutes to memorise and 3 minutes to answer. You study a page of shape pairs, such as a circle with a triangle. Then one shape of each pair returns alone, and you find the shape that stood with it. The test measures memory for the link between two pictures.
On the study screen the pairs appear together for 3 minutes. When its Time Left clock reaches zero, the test screen opens. Each row shows one shape from a pair, four shapes marked A to D, and a radio button under each. Click the button under the shape that stood with it and press Save & Next. Below: the screen flow, a method, the RDSO guideline's worked example and a 7-day plan.
The hall's own count and clock, as the RDSO guideline (ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020) gives them. Four shapes marked A to D beside the given shape; click the radio under its partner.

- 3

A worked exampleउदाहरण
- Memory page: circle with triangle, square with star, cross with arrow, crescent with diamond.
- Answer page, item 1: the circle · A triangle, B star, C arrow, D diamond.
In the RDSO guideline's example the answers for items 1 to 4 are A, D, A and B. So item 1, the circle, takes the triangle at A.
The method: how to attempt a questionतरीका
- 1
Join the two shapes into one picture
Do not hold a circle and a triangle as two things. Put the triangle inside the circle, the star on the square, the arrow through the cross. One joined picture is one memory, and it comes back whole.
- 2
Give the joined picture a two-word name
Say circle-triangle, square-star, cross-arrow under your breath. Say each name both ways, triangle-circle as well, so that either shape calls up the other. The name gives the pair a second home, in sound.
- 3
Walk the pairs in rounds, then self-test
Go through all 20 once, joining and naming. Go again, stopping only where the picture would not form. Before the clock ends, look only at the first shape of each pair, say its partner, then check.
- 4
On the test screen: shape, picture, partner
Look at the shape at the left and let the joined picture form; the partner is inside it. Click its radio and press Save & Next. If nothing forms, strike the options that belong with another shape and choose among the rest.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Fix the awkward pairs first
A circle with a triangle joins at once; a crescent with a diamond resists. Join the awkward pairs in your first round, while attention is fresh, and check them again in your last.
2.Familiar is not the same as paired
In the RDSO guideline's example every option for the circle is a partner from the study screen. Trust the joined picture, never the feeling of having seen a shape before.
3.Join to the outline, not to the name
A square and a diamond share a name family and get crossed. Join the partner to the outline you see, the tilt of the diamond, the points of the star, so that the picture, not the word, carries the pair.
4.Count the rows on your first pass
The 20 pairs fill the study screen in rows. Count them once so you know how many pictures you must hold, and on the last pass check that every row has a joined picture. A row never reached is a blind guess on the test screen.
5.Give each item 9 seconds and keep moving
Twenty answers in 3 minutes is 9 seconds each. At item 10, Time Left should read about a minute and a half. If it reads less, stop waiting for pictures and click the first shape that fits.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Memorising the shapes one by one, so that every shape looks familiar and no partner is known.
- Picking the option you remember seeing, instead of the one that stood beside the given shape on the study screen.
- Learning a pair by its place on the study screen, which is no use once the shape stands alone.
- Answering a Part 2 shape with the partner its look-alike had in Part 1.
- Waiting for a picture to form on one item while the clock takes the last rows of the part.
A 7-day plan for the Figure to Figure Test7 दिन की योजना
| Day | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Open the instruction screen and answer its four example items before looking at the answers. Then sit one practice paper to learn how the pairs, the rows and the clock feel. |
| Day 2 | Go through the review of that paper. Sort every wrong item by cause: no join made, a familiar option chosen, look-alike pairs crossed. |
| Day 3 | Focus on the study screen. Sit a paper and spend all 3 minutes of each part on the pairs: join, name both ways, rounds, self-test. |
| Day 4 | Focus on the test screen. Sit a paper and give each item 9 seconds: shape, picture, partner, Save & Next. Reach item 20 in both parts without stopping. |
| Day 5 | Part 2 alone. Sit a paper and, in the review, read only the Part 2 items. For each wrong one ask: did a Part 1 pair supply the answer, or did no picture form? Work on the bigger cause tomorrow. |
| Day 6 | Two papers on a laptop or desktop, a few hours apart. In the second, give the awkward pairs your first round and check in the review whether they still cost items. Note how far each T-Score sits from 60. |
| Day 7 | Sit the free Full Mock: all five tests with the hall's timing, the Memory Test first. Whichever kind Test 1 brings, join and name as you have all week. After the break, let Test 1 go and give Test 2 a fresh head. |
Questions students askसवाल-जवाब
▸How many questions are in the Figure to Figure Test and how long is it?
40 questions in 12 minutes, split into two parts of 20. Each part gives 3 minutes with the pairs and 3 minutes to answer. The portal's practice papers run on the same count and clock.
▸ALP figure to figure test kaise hota hai: what appears on screen?
A study screen shows 20 pairs of shapes for 3 minutes. Then each row of the test screen shows one shape beside four shapes marked A to D. You click the radio under its partner.
▸What is the difference between the Figure to Figure Test and the Figure Find Test?
Both belong to the Memory Test. In the Figure Find Test (1e) you memorise sets of shapes and find each whole set among five. Here you memorise pairs and find one shape's partner among four.
▸Did the last RRB ALP exam give the Figure to Figure Test?
No. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave the Figure Find Test for Test 1, as the institute's records show. Pairs and sets are different skills, so give this kind its own week of papers. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Vehicle & Signal Position Test (1f) for Test 1.
▸What kind of shapes come in the Figure to Figure Test?
The RDSO guideline's example uses simple shapes: circle, triangle, square, star, cross, arrow, crescent and diamond. Each shape is easy to name; the work is in holding which two stood together.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
Yes, the portal runs on a phone. But the CBAT is taken on a desktop with a mouse, so Kautilya Classes advises every student to sit the practice papers and Full Mocks on a laptop or desktop: the same screen, the same mouse, the same pace as the hall.
▸How do I practise this test on the portal?
Every account gets one free Full Mock after login: all five tests in one sitting with the hall's timing and a scorecard with your T-Score in each test. Practice papers of every kind, with the hall's count and clock, come with a Kautilya Classes package. New students message the team on WhatsApp; Kautilya Classes students get their login from the institute.
