Figure Find Test आकृति खोज परीक्षण
The Figure Find Test is kind 1e of the Memory Test, Test 1 of the RRB ALP CBAT. In the hall it has 24 questions in 8 minutes, as two parts of 12. Each part gives 2 minutes to study and 2 minutes to answer. You memorise sets of shapes, then find each among five choices. It measures how much you can hold in memory for a short while, and how exactly: shapes and their order. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave this kind for Test 1, as the institute's records show.
On the study screen the sets appear together, each a few shapes in a fixed order. When its clock ends, the test screen opens. Each question is a strip of five sets, A to E, with a radio button under each. One of the five is a set from the study screen; you click it and press Save & Next. This page gives the screen flow, a method, the RDSO guideline's example and a 7-day plan.
The hall's own count and clock, as the RDSO guideline (ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020) gives them. Five sets A to E in a strip; click the radio button under the set that was on the study screen.

- 2
Study screen, Part 1
The sets of shapes appear together under a Time Left clock of 2 minutes. There is nothing to answer here; fix every set, shape by shape, in order. At zero the screen closes for good.
- 3
Test screen, Part 1
Twelve questions follow, one strip of five sets each. Click the radio button under the set you studied and press Save & Next. The clock gives 2 minutes.
- 4
Break, then Part 2
A short break with a summary follows, then Part 2 opens by itself. Its own study screen, same clock: 2 minutes to study, then 2 minutes for 12 questions.
- 5
Submit
Press Submit, or the clock submits for you at zero. On the portal your T-Score appears at once, with a review of all 24 questions and the correct set for each. In a Full Mock, Test 2 follows a short break.
A worked exampleउदाहरण
- Study page: three sets are shown, a square-circle-triangle set, a star-cross-dot set and a diamond-line-arc set.
- Test page, item 1: five sets A to E, and one of them is square-circle-triangle in that order.
In the RDSO guideline's example the answers for items 1 to 3 are A, C and E.
The method: how to attempt a questionतरीका
- 1
Turn each set into a code word
Read the shapes in their order and take one letter from each: square, circle, triangle becomes SCT. Say it once under your breath. A code word keeps the order; a mental picture often loses it.
- 2
Study in three passes
First pass: code every set. Second pass: say each code with its shapes. Third pass: only the sets that did not stick. Watch Time Left; the screen closes at zero, ready or not.
- 3
Strike before you pick
Strike any of the five sets with a shape you never saw. Among the rest, read the shapes in order and spell their code. The option whose code matches a studied code, letter for letter, is the answer.
- 4
Click, Save & Next, do not return
Click the radio button, press Save & Next and let the question go. Twelve answers in 2 minutes come from steady movement, not certainty.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Give each shape its own letter
In the RDSO guideline's example, square and star both begin with S, and circle and cross with C. So SCT and SCD differ by one letter only. Give each shape its own letter, for example R for star and X for cross, and keep it on every paper.
2.The first shape removes most options
Wrong sets often reuse the studied shapes in another order. After the strike, compare each option's first shape with the code's first letter; most fall away.
3.Let go of Part 1 before Part 2
Part 2 brings its own study screen and its own 2 minutes. Code words left over from Part 1 take up room the second screen needs. Start it from zero, as if Part 1 never happened.
4.Trust the first match
A set that matches your code at once is usually right. Doubt grows with staring, and the clock does not stop for it.
5.Keep a rhythm of 10 seconds
Twelve questions in 2 minutes is 10 seconds each. At the sixth question, Time Left should read about a minute. If it reads less, pick faster; a blank scores nothing, a guess may.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Memorising which shapes are in a set but not the order they stand in.
- Picking a set that is nearly right, with one shape swapped for a look-alike.
- Spending the study stage on the first few sets and seeing the last ones only once.
- Reading all five options shape by shape before striking, when the first shape alone drops most of them.
- Going back to a doubtful question and losing two or three fresh ones to the clock.
A 7-day plan for the Figure Find Test7 दिन की योजना
| Day | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Read the instruction screen without skipping. Code the example's three sets and find item 1 before reading the answer. Sit one practice paper to meet the screen; ignore the score. |
| Day 2 | Open the review. Sort every wrong answer into two piles: order wrong, or a look-alike shape. Then fix one letter for every shape that clashed in your codes. |
| Day 3 | Study passes. Sit a paper and use the three-pass method on both study screens. Aim to code the last set before Time Left reads a minute. |
| Day 4 | Pace. Sit a paper at 10 seconds a question and reach question 12 in each part with time to spare. Accuracy may dip; finishing both parts is the goal. |
| Day 5 | Part 2 discipline. Before the second study screen, tell yourself the sets are new. In the review, compare your Part 2 answers with Part 1 and note whether the second part went worse. |
| Day 6 | Two papers on a laptop or desktop, with a gap between them. Compare the T-Scores against the target of 60 and review every wrong set and every lucky guess. |
| Day 7 | Sit the free Full Mock you get after login. Test 1 comes first, so you meet it fresh, as in the hall. Read the summary in the break before Test 2. At the end, check the T-Score of each test on the scorecard. |
Questions students askसवाल-जवाब
▸How many questions and how much time does the RRB ALP Figure Find Test have?
24 questions in 8 minutes, as two parts of 12. Each part gives 2 minutes to study and 2 minutes to answer. The portal's practice papers use the same count and clock.
▸ALP Figure Find Test kaise hota hai?
A study screen shows sets of shapes for 2 minutes. Then each question shows five sets A to E; you click the one you saw. The order of shapes within a set is part of the answer.
▸Did the last ALP exam give the Figure Find Test?
Yes. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave this kind for Test 1, as the institute's records show. The hall may give any of the six kinds of the Memory Test, so prepare all six. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Vehicle & Signal Position Test (1f) instead, so practise that first and keep this one ready.
▸Do the wrong options in the Figure Find Test use the same shapes?
Often, yes. The four wrong sets usually hold the shapes you studied in another order, or with one shape swapped for a look-alike. That is why the order inside a set is part of the answer.
▸How is the Figure Find Test different from the Figure to Figure Test?
Both are kinds of the Memory Test. In the Figure to Figure Test (1d) you memorise pairs of shapes and find each one's partner. Here you memorise whole sets and find each among five, and the portal has practice papers for both.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
Yes, the portal runs on a phone. But the CBAT is taken on a desktop with a mouse, so Kautilya Classes advises every student to sit the practice papers and Full Mocks on a laptop or desktop: the same screen, the same mouse, the same pace as the hall.
▸How do I practise this test on the portal?
Every account gets one free Full Mock after login: all five tests in one sitting with the hall's timing and a scorecard with your T-Score in each test. Practice papers of every kind, with the hall's count and clock, come with a Kautilya Classes package. New students message the team on WhatsApp; Kautilya Classes students get their login from the institute.
