The Figure to Number Test is kind 1b of the Memory Test, Test 1 of the RRB ALP CBAT. In the hall it gives 42 questions in 12 minutes, as two parts of 21. Each part gives 3 minutes to study and 3 minutes to answer. You memorise a set of pictures, each with a two-digit number beside it. Then the pictures come back and you pick the number that went with each one. It measures paired memory: a picture and its number.
On the study screen the pictures appear with their numbers. When its clock ends, the test screen opens. The pictures return in a new order, one to a row, each with four numbers marked A, B, C and D. You click the radio for the number that went with that picture and press Save & Next. The rest of the page walks through each screen and gives a method for fixing a pair in memory. The test opens with its rules in Hindi and English and six example pairs with their answers. On the portal this screen allows 5 minutes; Skip Instruction starts the test sooner.

The 21 pictures appear with their numbers under a Time Left clock of 3 minutes. At zero the pairs close and do not return.

The pictures come back in a new order. Each row holds one picture, four numbers in boxes marked A, B, C and D, then four radios. Click the radio for the right number and press Save & Next.

Break, then Part 2
A short break with a summary follows. Then Part 2 opens by itself with 21 new pairs: again 3 minutes to study and 3 minutes to answer.

Press Submit, or the clock submits for you at zero. On the portal your T-Score then appears at once, with a review of all 42 pictures and their correct numbers.

The method: how to attempt a questionतरीका

Say every pair as a short line
A bare number slips away before the test screen opens. Give each picture a line that holds its number: the bell rang 75 times, the key opens room 93.

Go through the pairs in rounds
Walk the 21 once in order, saying each line. Walk them again and stop only at the pairs that slipped. Three minutes allows several rounds.

Cover the numbers and check
With the study time nearly over, look at each picture and say its line without reading the number. A pair that fails gets your last seconds; the rest you leave alone.

Look at the picture, say its line, and the number comes with it. Find it among A to D, click its radio and press Save & Next. If the line will not come, strike the numbers you never saw and choose among the rest.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Keep the two digits in order
Seventy-five is one word; seven and five are two, and two can swap. The example offers both 39 and 93 as options in one question. Hear every number as one word and the swapped option will not tempt you.
2.Tie the number to the picture, not to the place
The test page shuffles the pictures. A number remembered as the third in the row is lost once the row changes. Start every line from the picture itself.
3.Give look-alike pictures a line that separates them
Where two pictures look alike, their numbers get crossed. Put the difference into the line, so that each picture claims its own number. Give these pairs your later rounds.
4.Strike the far numbers first
Two of the four options usually sit far from any number you studied. Strike them at once, then choose between the two that are close. The close pair is where a swapped digit hides, so say the line before you look.
5.Keep under 9 seconds a picture
21 answers in 3 minutes leaves no time for a second visit. If a picture will not give up its number, mark the likeliest and move on. The clock closes Part 1 either way.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Looking at the pairs without saying them, then recognising every picture and knowing no number.
- Learning the numbers by their place on the study screen, which the test screen shuffles.
- Reading the four options before recalling the line, so that a familiar-looking number chooses itself.
- Carrying a Part 1 number into Part 2 and giving it to a new picture.
- Returning to a picture whose number would not come, so the clock closes the part with the last pictures blank.
A 7-day plan for the Figure to Number Test7 दिन की योजना

| Day 3 | Give today to the study screens. In each part keep saying lines until the clock reads zero. A pair finished early is a pair you can check again. |
| Day 4 | Speed. Sit a paper and answer each picture the moment its line arrives, with no return visits. Count how many of the 21 you reached in each part; the figure should be 21. |
| Day 5 | Sit a paper and give your attention to Part 2. When the second study screen opens, start the lines afresh with the first new picture. In the review, count how many Part 2 numbers came from Part 1; aim for none. |
| Day 6 | Two papers, one in the morning and one in the evening, both on a laptop or desktop. After each, check whether the Day 2 causes still cost pictures and whether the T-Score has moved towards 60. |

▸How many questions are in the Figure to Number Test and how much time do I get?
42 questions in 12 minutes, in two parts of 21. Each part gives 3 minutes to study and 3 minutes to answer, under 9 seconds a picture. Every practice paper for this kind on the portal keeps the 21 + 21 count and the 3-minute clocks.
▸ALP figure to number test kaise hota hai: what exactly is asked?
A set of pictures is shown for 3 minutes, each with a two-digit number. Then the pictures return in a new order, each with four numbers marked A, B, C and D. You click the number that stood beside each picture.
▸Are the numbers in the Figure to Number Test always two digits?
In the RDSO guideline's example every number has two digits, and the four options do too. So the length gives nothing away; only the pair you memorised does.
▸Did the last RRB ALP exam give the Figure to Number Test?
No. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave the Figure Find Test for Test 1, as the institute's records show. Which kind comes is not known until the instruction screen. Practise this kind as fully as the one given last time. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Vehicle & Signal Position Test (1f) for Test 1.
▸How is the Figure to Number Test different from the Figure to Figure Test?
Both are Memory Test kinds built on pairs. Here a picture goes with a number, and you pick that number from four. In the Figure to Figure Test (1d) a shape goes with another shape, and you find its partner.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
Yes, the portal runs on a phone. But the CBAT is taken on a desktop with a mouse, so Kautilya Classes advises every student to sit the practice papers and Full Mocks on a laptop or desktop: the same screen, the same mouse, the same pace as the hall.
