The Number Table Test is kind 2c of the Following Directions Test, Test 2 of the RRB ALP CBAT. The hall gives it as 10 questions in 5 minutes: 30 seconds a question. A block of numbers in rows and columns stays on the screen. Each question is a direction about that block, and the answer is always one number from it. The test checks whether you can read a direction once, hold it and follow it on the grid without a slip. Speed matters, but a wrong cell costs more than a slow one.
On screen the table sits at the left and the questions at the right, each with its number options. You read a direction such as which number is directly above 1, find that cell, and click the number it holds. Some directions reverse a row before they ask; some walk you along a path of cells. Instruction screen
The test opens with its rules in Hindi and English and the example question. On the portal this screen allows 5 minutes, and a Skip Instruction button takes you straight to the test.

Table and clock
The number table appears at the left and the 10 questions at the right, each with its number options. The Time Left clock for this test starts the moment the screen opens.

Read, find, click
Read the direction, find the cell it leads to in the table, and click the matching number among that question's options. The answer you click is kept at once.

Down the list
There is no Save & Next on this screen; your click is the save. The 10 questions stand in one column at the right. The mouse wheel is locked, so pull the scrollbar to reach the next one.

Submit
Submit when you finish, or the clock submits for you at 5 minutes. On the portal your T-Score appears at once, with every question, your answer and the correct one.

Hear the direction out
The grid can wait until the sentence is over. Note the number the direction names, and what it asks about it. That is a position such as directly above, a reversed row, or a path along cells.

Find the named number
Locate that number in the table. If it appears more than once, find every copy first and decide which one the direction means before you move.

Move with the rule
Above or below sends you up or down one column, never sideways. Left or right runs along one row. On a reversed row, read it backwards first, and only then make the move.

Read the cell, click the option
Read the number in the cell you reach, find it among the options and click it. Do not re-check unless time is left at the end.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Read look-alike digits twice
In a number table 1 and 7, 6 and 9, 3 and 8 sit close in shape. Read the digit in the cell you reach twice before you click.
2.Reverse means mirror
A reversed row is read from right to left. The two end cells swap, the next pair swaps, and so on in towards the middle. Picture the mirror; there is no time to rewrite the row.
3.Turn the direction into a short code
Before you look at the table, shrink the direction to a code: above 1, left of 7, row three reversed. Carry the code to the grid, not the sentence.
4.Spend the 30 seconds on the cell, not the sentence
10 questions in 5 minutes is 30 seconds each. Read the direction once, well, and give the rest of the time to finding and checking the cell. A question that passes 30 seconds gets your likeliest number.
5.Work the example on the instruction screen
In the hall, read the example before you start. Find its answer in the table yourself, so that question 1 is not your first look at the grid.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Sliding along the row for above or below, when the answer sits in the column.
- Taking the first copy of a repeated number without checking the other copies.
- Reading a reversed row from its old left end and landing on the mirror cell.
- Reading one long direction three times and spending the whole 30 seconds on it.
- Letting the eye slip one cell sideways and clicking the neighbour's number.
- Leaving a question blank because the direction looked odd; a marked guess costs nothing.

▸What is the Number Table Test in the RRB ALP psycho test?

▸How long is the Number Table Test?

▸Is the Number Table Test the same as the Letter Table Test?
The form is the same: a table at the left, directions at the right, one cell as the answer. The Letter Table Test fills the grid with letters and the Number Table Test with numbers. A method that works on one works on the other.
▸Did the Number Table Test come in the last RRB ALP exam?
In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave the Watch Table Test for Test 2, as the institute's records show. The hall gives one kind of each test, and you do not know which in advance. So prepare all three kinds of Test 2. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Watch Table Test again.
▸How do I get faster at the Number Table Test?
Speed comes from the moves, not from reading faster. Drill above, below, left, right and reversal on any grid of numbers until each move takes one glance. Then sit the portal's practice papers at the hall clock and review every slip with the solution.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
