Brick Test ईंट परीक्षण
The railway's mock link for CEN 01/2025 gives this kind for the Depth Perception Test
The Brick Test is kind 3a of the Depth Perception Test, Test 3 of the RRB ALP CBAT. In the hall it gives 50 questions in 5 minutes: ten piles of bricks, five lettered bricks in each. Every brick in a pile has the same size and shape. Your job is to count how many bricks touch each lettered brick, including the ones the drawing hides. The test measures how well you read depth from a flat picture. You judge what lies behind, what lies beneath, and what must be there out of sight.
On screen, one pile sits on the left. On the right stand five questions, one for each letter A to E, each with a row of numbers. You click the number equal to your count and press Save & Next for the next pile. This page gives you the screen flow and a method that counts every brick once. It adds the worked example from the RDSO guideline, the mistakes that cost marks, and a 7-day plan. Then try a practice paper with the hall's count and clock.
The hall's own count and clock, as the RDSO guideline (ALPs Guidelines CBT, Jan 2020) gives them. Beside each letter A to E is a row of numbers; click the one equal to your count.

How the test runs on screenस्क्रीन पर कैसे चलता है
- 1
Instruction screen
The test opens with its rules in Hindi and English and an example pile with its five answers. On the portal this screen allows 5 minutes; Skip Instruction starts the test sooner.
- 2
One pile, five questions
A pile is drawn on the left. On the right are questions 1 to 5, one for each letter A to E, with a row of numbers. If the row runs past the screen's edge, the scrollbar brings the rest into view, as in the hall.
- 3
Click the count, then Save & Next
For each letter, click the number that matches your count. Save & Next opens the next pile; the numbering continues 6 to 10, and so on up to 50.
- 4
Time Left
One Time Left clock of 5 minutes runs for the whole test, not one per pile. Glance at it after every pile, not after every letter.
- 5
Submit
Press Submit, or the clock submits for you at zero. Your T-Score appears at once, with a review of every pile and the correct count for each letter. Sitting a Full Mock, you get the break and its summary here; Test 4 follows.
A worked exampleउदाहरण
- In the pile shown in the RDSO guideline, brick A touches two other bricks, D and E.
- Bricks B, C, D and E touch 3, 3, 4 and 4 bricks.
So the answers are A 2, B 3, C 3, D 4, E 4.
The method: how to attempt a questionतरीका
- 1
Read the pile before the letters
Spend the first two or three seconds on the whole pile. See how many layers it has, which bricks lie along and which across, and where one brick rests on two below. The letters make sense only once the structure is clear.
- 2
Go around the lettered brick in six directions
Above, below, left, right, front, back: the same order every time. On each side count every brick in contact, not just one. A brick lying across others may rest on two or three below, and all of them touch it.
- 3
Add the bricks you cannot see
A brick cannot float. If a brick sits above the bottom layer and nothing shows beneath it, a hidden brick holds it up, and it counts.
- 4
Count once, click, move on
Say the number, click it, go to the next letter. Recount only when a contact you already found for another letter is missing from this count. Five letters share one pile, so your picture of it carries over from A to E.
6 tips that raise the scoreसुझाव
1.Touch means a face or an edge
A brick that shares a face with the lettered brick, or lies along one of its edges, counts as touching. One that meets it only at a corner point does not.
2.Use the answers you already have
Touching works both ways. If A touches D and E, then A is already one of D's bricks and one of E's. Note which lettered bricks touch each other before you count, and carry those contacts across the five answers.
3.Keep to 30 seconds a pile
Fifty questions in 5 minutes is 6 seconds a question, or 30 seconds a pile. If a pile passes 30 seconds, mark your working answers and move.
4.One direction at a time
Finish each of the six directions before you start the next. A brick lying across the top may also meet the front or back edge. Count it in the first direction where you meet it, then skip it. No brick is counted twice.
5.Sit it with a mouse and a scrollbar
In the hall you answer at a desktop with a mouse. The rows of numbers may run past the right edge, and you reach them with the scrollbar. Practise on a laptop or desktop so the scroll and click become habit.
6.Practise on a laptop or desktop
The portal works on a phone too, but the exam hall is a desktop screen with a mouse. Sit every practice paper and Full Mock on a laptop or desktop, so the screen, the mouse and the pace are the ones you will meet on the day.
Mistakes that cost marksगलतियाँ
- Counting only the bricks you can see and forgetting the hidden one holding a brick up.
- Counting the same brick twice because it touches on a face and also along an edge.
- Counting a brick that meets the lettered brick only at a corner point.
- Clicking B's count in C's row, so two answers go wrong from one slip.
- Recounting a pile three times for one doubtful letter and leaving the last piles blank.
A 7-day plan for the Brick Test7 दिन की योजना
| Day | What to do |
|---|---|
| Day 1 | Read the instruction screen slowly and count the example pile before you look at its five answers. Then sit one practice paper to meet the screen; ignore the score. |
| Day 2 | Open the review. For each wrong letter, find the direction you missed: above, below, left, right, front or back. Use that order on every pile from now on. |
| Day 3 | Hidden bricks only. In the review, mark every brick held up by something you cannot see. Sit a second paper and count the hidden supports first. |
| Day 4 | Pace. Sit a paper at 30 seconds a pile and reach the tenth pile with time on the clock. Accuracy may dip today; reaching question 50 is the goal. |
| Day 5 | Mutual touching. Before counting, list the pairs of lettered bricks that touch each other, then check that each pair shows in both answers. One paper, then review. |
| Day 6 | Two papers on a laptop or desktop, using the scrollbar. Compare the two T-Scores and review every wrong count, not only the ones you guessed. |
| Day 7 | Sit the free Full Mock on a laptop. Depth Perception comes second, straight after the Memory Test, as in the railway's mock. Check its row's T-Score against the target of 60. |
Questions students askसवाल-जवाब
▸How many questions are in the RRB ALP Brick Test and how much time do I get?
50 questions in 5 minutes: ten piles, five lettered bricks in each. That is 6 seconds a question, or 30 seconds a pile, on one clock for the whole test.
▸ALP brick test kaise hota hai: what is asked in the Brick Test?
A pile of same-size bricks is drawn; five carry the letters A to E. For each lettered brick you count how many bricks touch it, hidden ones included, and click that number beside the letter.
▸Do hidden bricks count in the Brick Test?
Yes. If a brick in an upper layer has nothing visible under it, a hidden brick holds it up, and that brick counts. Count a hidden brick only when the drawing shows it must be there.
▸Does a brick that touches only at a corner count in the Brick Test?
No. Contact means a shared face or a shared edge. Bricks that meet at a single corner point are not touching. A brick that touches on two sides is still counted once.
▸Is the Brick Test still asked if the last exam gave the Hidden Cube Test?
Yes. Test 3 opens as either kind, and the choice is not announced. In the last exam (CEN 01/2024) the hall gave the Hidden Cube Test, as the institute's records show. The Brick Test remains the other kind, and the faster one: 5 minutes against 10. For CEN 01/2025 the railway's mock link gives the Brick Test, so practise it first.
▸Is there negative marking in the RRB ALP psycho test?
No. The CBAT has no negative marking. Attempt every question; an unanswered question is a mark lost for certain.
▸What T-Score do I need to pass?
A T-Score of at least 42 in each of the five tests of the CBAT. The portal shows your T-Score on every paper the moment you submit, measured against everyone who sat it.
▸Can I practise on my phone?
Yes, the portal runs on a phone. But the CBAT is taken on a desktop with a mouse, so Kautilya Classes advises every student to sit the practice papers and Full Mocks on a laptop or desktop: the same screen, the same mouse, the same pace as the hall.
▸How do I practise this test on the portal?
Every account gets one free Full Mock after login: all five tests in one sitting with the hall's timing and a scorecard with your T-Score in each test. Practice papers of every kind, with the hall's count and clock, come with a Kautilya Classes package. New students message the team on WhatsApp; Kautilya Classes students get their login from the institute.
